Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Hydro Controls Engineering, where you’ll drive the design, integration, and commissioning of advanced control systems for hydroelectric power plants. As a Hydro Controls Project Engineer, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance plant reliability, efficiency, and sustainability.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering (or equivalent technical field).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in industrial controls or automation, with at least 2 years in hydro power applications.
• Hands-on experience with PLC and HMI programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, or similar).
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, DNP3).
• Proven ability to read and develop electrical/hydraulic schematics.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% for project support and commissioning.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• 7+ years’ experience in controls engineering, especially in hydro or renewable energy sectors.
• Experience with turbine governor systems and pumped storage station controls.
• Advanced skills in digital circuitry, motor controls, instrumentation, or data acquisition.
• Prior involvement in turnkey project delivery (from design through commissioning).
Strong customer-facing communication and project management skills.
