Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Test Technician for a leading manufacturer of construction equipment. This role works closely with engineers throughout the testing lifecycle, supporting everything from automated cycle testing and machine validation to diagnosing field issues and evaluating new machine functionality. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who enjoys understanding how complete machine systems operate and can troubleshoot across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and controls disciplines.

Day-to-Day:
• Support validation and testing activities for boom lifts and scissor lifts
• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and controls-related issues
• Execute machine testing activities including stability, durability, and automated cycle testing
• Work closely with engineers to validate new products and optional machine features
• Support customer issue investigations and machine performance evaluations
• Utilize PLCs, diagnostic tools, and machine software to identify equipment issues
Interpret schematics, blueprints, and hydraulic diagrams to support troubleshooting efforts

Required Skills & Experience

• Hands-on experience with heavy mobile equipment:
○ Construction equipment
○ Agricultural equipment
○ Rental fleet equipment
○ Manufacturing equipment
○ Similar off-highway/mobile machinery
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
• Experience reading and interpreting:
○ Electrical schematics
○ Hydraulic diagrams
○ Technical drawings/blueprints
• Ability to diagnose root causes rather than simply replace parts
• Hands-on mentality with a strong desire to understand why equipment fails

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• PLC experience or familiarity with PLC-controlled systems
• Autonomous equipment or automated testing experience
• CANBus knowledge and machine communication protocols
• Diagnostic software experience
• Testing and validation experience on mobile equipment
