Job Description

An insurance client is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join their growing AI / ML organization. This person will be focused within leading the team and providing high level technical delivery for the enterprise. Day to day includes guiding team members through code reviews and projects, leading junior team members by providing insight and direction, and delivery technically. This person is the highest level of individual contributor at the company, so autonomy over their process and work, delivering over long-term projects and continuous improvements over multiple work cycles, and providing leadership and coaching are core experiences that will be leveraged in this role. The company sits in Portland, Oregon and works core PST hours.

Core Technical Skills:
- Evaluating LLM systems on their dynamic and systematic output
- Monitoring models post deployment as they are in production, the intervention / training used for this
- RAG Architecture
- Deep Learning: Neural Network experience
- Model deployment pipeline, deploying a model object across environments or in separate environments
- Stakeholder Management
- Aligning data science goals across the technology teams, ensuring alignment

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- 10+ years of experience in the Data Science field in an enterprise environment
- Expert technical experience with Microsoft products, experience with Azure cloud, Databricks, Python, PySpark, Fabric, preferred
- Experience deploying large language models (LLM), experience with GPT-4 / LLaMA / PaLM / etc.
- Retrieval Augment architecture experience (RAG), providing enhancements and ability to evaluate impact on performance
- Deep learning experience, specifically with Neural Networks
- ML Operations experience, specifically with building model deployment pipelines
-Experience coaching and mentoring team members

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Master's Degree

- DSPy experience / knowledge

- Experience in the insurance / banking / finance space and working with highly regulated data
