Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a detail-oriented and driven Risk Analytics & Automation Consultant to join a top bank in downtown Toronto, who can immediately add value to their Digital Transformation, Data, Analytics, & AI team. BMO is undergoing a major overhaul of their enterprise risk program, including an enhanced risk framework, new policy/standards/procedures hierarchy, and improved first-line operating models. This individual needs hands-on experience developing and analyzing Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and Key Risk Metrics (KRMs), risk data and data governance, reporting automation, and PowerApps/Power BI development. The role is ideal for a subject matter expert within data governance, automation, and developing KRIs/KRMs who can hit the ground running and provide actionable, data-driven recommendations.

Key Responsibilities (Day-to-Day)
• Review a set of 7 KRIs and core risk data, performing analysis and providing clear recommendations on effectiveness.
• Conduct quarter-over-quarter trend analysis, identify boundaries/thresholds, and assess metric performance.
• Develop enhancements to the risk appetite statement and key risk taxonomy.
• Automate intake forms, data entry processes, and reporting dashboards using PowerApps and Power BI.
• Prepare documentation related to policy, standards, and procedures as part of the broader risk framework overhaul.
• Provide insights grounded in strong data analytics; focused on data governance metrics (e.g., critical data elements count, data stewardship %, data quality rules).
• Support improvement of first-line operating models and overall risk program modernization.
• Present findings and recommendations to managers and stakeholders.
• Lead the establishment (Charter, meetings, etc.) for the Data Risk Committee.
• Facilitate discussions and follow a structured approach to plan, elicit, analyze, document, communicate, and manage requirements with stakeholders.
• Act as a subject matter expert on relevant regulations and policies for internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify emerging issues and trends to inform data-drive decision making.
• Break down strategic problems, analyze data to provide insights/recommendations, and lead change management.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong risk analytics experience in financial services, ideally 5+ years of experience in data analytics with previous exposure to data governance and automation.
• Hands-on experience with Power BI and PowerApps automation.
• Experience developing, assessing, and recommending improvements for Key Risk Metrics (KRMs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs).
• Background in statistics, analytics, or quantitative methods.
• Demonstrated ability to automate and streamline processes in past projects.
• Computer Science, Finance, Data Analytics, or related university degree.
• Strong documentation and presentation skills; able to communicate findings effectively.
• Ability to validate experience through deep-dive conversation—must have actually done the work hands-on.
