Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Data Conversion Specialist to support our large banking client in a strategic modernization initiative. This role is critical to transforming legacy systems and platforms. The ideal candidate will bring deep scripting expertise and migration experience to automate and streamline complex data and application conversion processes. This is a high-impact role that will support our client in their digital transformation journey. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and executing conversion and migration scripts for applications and databases. You will also develop and maintain scripts to automate data and application conversion and migration processes.
This is a 6 month contract with extensions and it will be hybrid 2x per week in office, in Downtown Toronto.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Perform data mapping, transformation, and validation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct pre- and post-migration testing and troubleshoot issues in real-time.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze legacy systems and define migration requirements.
- Support migration planning, dry runs, and cutover execution aligned with project milestones.
- Document workflows, scripts, and configurations for audit and operational continuity.
- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and change management policies.

Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of experience with application or data migration projects, specifically with enterprise banking/financial services.
- 6+ years of experience in scripting with Python, PowerShell, Bash, and Perl.
- Hands-on experience with ETL tools and conversion utilities.
- Strong hands on experience and understanding of relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and migration strategies.
- Comfortable working in both Linux and Windows environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience with Wealth Management applications.
- Exposure to legacy systems (mainframe, AS/400) and modernization projects.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of Agile delivery methodologies and project lifecycle management.
