Business Controls Consultant

Insight Global is seeking a Business Controls Consultant to join a top bank in Toronto on a hybrid basis, supporting an Investments teams. This role is critical in ensuring the effectiveness of internal control frameworks and compliance processes across the organization. The successful candidate will act as the First Line of Defense (LOD), supporting investment teams and overseeing operational and regulatory controls.

Key Responsibilities
• Support investment teams and oversee control effectiveness across the organization.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal control frameworks and business controls.
• Ensure compliance with trading and operational processes.
• Perform ongoing reviews and testing of controls.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to address control requirements and compliance issues.
• Monitor social media and email communications for regulatory compliance:
○ LinkedIn monitoring for breaches of internal regulations.
○ Email surveillance (internal and external) for compliance.
○ Conduct investigations and assessments as needed.
• Recommend solutions and develop action plans to mitigate risks.

• Minimum 3+ years experience in controls, compliance, audit, or risk within a regulatory environment.
• Strong background in audit or compliance functions.
• Ability to design and implement controls and perform testing.
• Experience coordinating with stakeholders and managing compliance processes.
• Ability to think critically and possess strong attention to detail.
• Banking or large financial institution experience.

• Asset Management or Commercial Banking
• MBA or CPA
