Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Senior Estimator to join one of Canada's leading employee-owned general contractors based in their Ottawa or Toronto office. This individual will play a critical role on a large-scale nuclear construction project near Chalk River, Ontario, supporting the construction of a highly specialized nuclear research facility. The project will support advanced nuclear materials research, isotope development for cancer treatment applications, post-irradiated fuel examination, and next-generation reactor technologies.
The Senior Estimator will lead estimating activities throughout both preconstruction and active construction phases. This includes validating project estimates as IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings are released, developing pricing strategies, evaluating construction execution options, preparing labour and man-hour estimates, pricing change orders, and leading collaborative estimating efforts across multiple project partners. Working within an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) environment, this individual will provide leadership and quality control across estimate development while ensuring alignment between project stakeholders, trade partners, and construction teams.
regular collaboration with project teams as well as approximately one/two day per month of travel to Chalk River.

Required Skills & Experience
• 10+ years of estimating experience
• Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience within nuclear, heavy industrial, energy, oil & gas, mining, petrochemical, refinery, SAGD, or other major process facility construction environments
• Experience supporting projects valued at approximately $1B+ or projects of similar complexity and scale
• Experience pricing change orders, scope modifications, and construction-phase estimate updates
• Experience evaluating multiple construction approaches and developing cost-effective execution strategies
• Strong experience soliciting, leveling, and analyzing subcontractor and trade partner pricing
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and industry-standard estimating software
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel regularly to project sites
• Must be eligible to obtain Reliability Security Clearance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
○ Direct experience estimating nuclear facilities, laboratories, research centres, reactor facilities, nuclear refurbishment projects, or nuclear waste management facilities
○ Experience working within Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Alliance, Progressive Design-Build, or Construction Management delivery models
○ Experience supporting projects during active construction and performing estimate "true-ups" against IFC drawings
○ Existing Reliability Security Clearance
○ Strong relationships within the Ontario subcontractor and supplier market
○ Experience leading or mentoring other estimators and preconstruction professionals
○ Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related post-secondary education
○ Professional designations such as Gold Seal, PQS, P.Eng., CET, or equivalent industry certifications
○ Previous experience working on highly regulated facilities including nuclear, pharmaceutical, life sciences, energy, or research environments
○ Experience working in employee-owned or entrepreneurial construction organizations
