Job Description
• Design and deliver protection and control solutions for generation, transmission, and distribution systems
• Perform detailed power system studies (short circuit, load flow, grounding, arc flash, etc.)
• Develop and program relay setting files, including control logic and communications configurations
• Execute factory and site testing of protection systems, including FAT and SAT support
• Support commissioning activities at customer sites across Canada and the US (~25% travel)
• Participate in technical meetings with project managers and clients
• Assist in developing tools and automation processes to improve engineering workflows
• Contribute to technical proposals, including estimating engineering effort and defining scope
• Create detailed engineering reports and documentation

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (power systems focus)
• 5+ years of experience in electric power system studies and analysis
• Strong knowledge of power system theory (steady state, transient, fault analysis, symmetrical components)
• Experience with engineering study tools (ASPEN, ETAP, SKM, MATLAB, Mathcad, CAPE, CDEGS, etc.)
• Experience performing power system studies (short circuit, load flow, arc flash, grounding, insulation coordination, protection coordination)
• Hands-on experience with relay settings, programming, and protection & control design
• Familiarity with substation communication protocols (IEC 61850, DNP, Modbus)
• Experience with testing and commissioning (Omicron, Doble, or similar equipment)
• Strong technical writing, reporting, and communication skills
• Generator Protection Experience - large scale
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in turnkey Protection & Control projects
• Exposure to automation or internal tool development for engineering processes
• Professional Engineering (P.Eng) certification or working toward it
• Experience working directly with utility clients or industrial power systems
