Job Title: Flagger Crack Sealing Street Crew
Location: Derby, Kansas
Department: Public Works / Road Maintenance
Reports To: Crew Supervisor or Foreman
Employment Type: 4 week contract
Pay Range: $18-22/h

Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Flagger to join our Crack Sealing Street Crew. The Flagger is responsible for directing traffic safely around road maintenance zones, ensuring the safety of the crew and the public during crack sealing operations. This role is essential to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment on active roadways.

Key Responsibilities:
Set up, maintain, and remove traffic control devices (cones, signs, barricades) in accordance with local and state regulations.
Direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic using hand signals, signs, or flagging paddles.
Communicate clearly with crew members and the public to ensure safe passage through work zones.
Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as needed to maintain safety.
Assist with basic labor tasks as needed, including site cleanup and equipment handling.
Remain alert and responsive to changing traffic conditions and crew needs.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Valid Flagger Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Previous experience in road construction or traffic control is a plus.
Ability to stand for long periods and work in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication skills and situational awareness.
Must be dependable, punctual, and safety-oriented.
Valid drivers license preferred.

Working Conditions:
Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Exposure to traffic, dust, noise, and construction equipment.
Requires standing, walking, and wearing PPE.

Compensation: $18-$21/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
