Job Description

About the Opportunity

A client of Insight Global is seeking an experienced Accounting Closeout Specialist to support the final audit and closeout activities for a large federal grant program. This individual will play a critical role in reviewing invoices, validating supporting documentation, and ensuring compliance with federal grant requirements as the organization completes a significant funding initiative.

This position will work closely with Accounting leadership and report primarily to the Finance team, with direct interaction with executive leadership throughout the engagement.

Responsibilities
- Review batches of invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Verify financial records against federal grant requirements and internal policies
- Identify discrepancies, missing documentation, or audit concerns and escalate as needed
- Prepare documentation packages for secondary review and approval
- Assist with grant closeout activities and financial reconciliation efforts
- Support internal audit processes related to federal funding
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for compliance purposes
- Collaborate with accounting and leadership teams to ensure timely completion of closeout milestones
- Ensure adherence to federal grant regulations and reporting standards

Required Skills & Experience

- 5+ years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, grant administration, or a related financial role
- Experience reviewing invoices, financial documentation, and supporting records for accuracy and compliance
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial controls
- Experience working with federally funded programs, grants, or contracts
- Knowledge of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) requirements
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in financial documentation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial recordkeeping systems
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience supporting federal grant closeouts
- Background in nonprofit accounting or grant-funded organizations
- Prior experience with internal audits or compliance reviews
- Familiarity with state-administered federal funding programs
