Electrical Field Inspector – Data Center Construction
Role Overview
The Electrical Field Inspector provides daily quality oversight for electrical installation activities on a data center construction site. This role ensures that all electrical work—including power distribution, grounding, conduit and cable installation, equipment terminations, and critical systems infrastructure—meets project specifications, industry codes, and client requirements. The inspector serves as the primary point of contact for subcontractor QC teams and plays a key role in identifying issues early and ensuring timely resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct daily field inspections of electrical installations to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, NEC requirements, and approved submittals.
Act as the primary point of contact for subcontractor QC personnel, coordinating inspection schedules, documentation needs, and quality expectations.
Identify quality issues and nonconformances in the field, document findings clearly, and communicate them to construction and subcontractor teams.
Track follow‑up actions to ensure timely correction, re‑inspection, and closure of all identified issues.
Review electrical field documentation, including inspection reports, test records, cable schedules, equipment installation logs, and redlines.
Ensure strict adherence to project specifications, electrical standards, and client requirements across all electrical scopes.
Perform TSQMP field verification, confirming that electrical work aligns with the project’s Technical Safety & Quality Management Plan and that required quality controls are implemented.
Support readiness checks for major milestones such as equipment energization, testing, commissioning turnover, and client inspections.
Collaborate with construction managers, engineers, and trade partners to resolve field quality concerns and prevent recurrence.
Qualifications
Experience in electrical inspection, QA/QC, or electrical field engineering (mission‑critical or data center experience preferred).
Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC requirements, installation standards, and construction documentation.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings, one‑lines, specifications, and submittals.
Skilled in issue identification, documentation, and follow‑up tracking.
Effective communication and coordination skills with field teams and subcontractors.
