RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the rollout and operationalization of enterprise data governance within Finance, Supply Chain, and Corporate Functions.
Collaborate with Data Owners and Stewards to define and document business metadata (e.g., definitions, ownership, usage).
Act as a liaison between business SMEs, IT, and data platform teams to ensure governance practices are embedded in data delivery processes.
Ensure data classification, sensitivity, and retention rules are documented across key datasets and incorporated into designs.
Help ensure data governance supports regulatory compliance such as SOX, PII, and FERC reporting requirements with the business.
Support ongoing efforts to catalog data assets, including source systems, key tables, data flows, and lineage, using tools like Microsoft Purview.
Ensure metadata is kept up to date, complete, and consistent across systems of record and analytical platforms.
Participate in the development and maintenance of a business glossary for critical terms across domains.
Partner with Data Owners and IT teams to define and track data quality rules and key data quality metrics.
Investigate data quality issues in collaboration with data engineering, business, and platform teams.
Review data access roles and Active Directory groups for appropriateness, especially for sensitive and SOX-relevant data.
Assist in documenting technical and business requirements for new data assets being ingested into our Enterprise Data Platform
Contribute to data intake assessments, ensuring completeness, security, and classification of data being onboarded.
Assist in defining and implementing data policies, standards, and procedures aligned with regulatory and business requirements.
Support adoption of standardized templates and intake processes, including testing and documentation tracking
Track and report on governance metrics, including policy adoption, stewardship engagement, data quality improvement, and metadata completeness.
Prepare governance updates and status reports for Stewardship Councils or Data Governance Boards.
Identify opportunities to improve governance processes, tooling usage, or policy clarity.
Provide support and training to data stewards and business users on governance tools, data classification, and stewardship responsibilities.
Participate in governance tool upgrades, enhancements, or workflow design efforts.
