Job Description

Summary:

Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for our first-party engineering client in Delaware, OH. This individual will take part in the design, development, testing, optimization, and launch of hoisting systems and components for suspended access and lifting equipment. This role owns innovation, product design, product performance, customer experience, manufacturability, market share, and margin improvement across the full product lifecycle.



Product Design & Development

Lead mechanical design, development, testing, and launch of electromechanical systems, assemblies, and components.
Translate customer, internal, and regulatory requirements into robust and manufacturable designs.
Perform engineering analyses (stress, fatigue, deflection, load calculations).
Own New Product Introduction (NPI) processes including design reviews, prototyping, testing, and launch readiness.


Product Optimization & Improvement

Improve existing products based on customer feedback, field data, warranty trends, and manufacturing challenges.
Enhance reliability, usability, safety, and overall customer experience.
Identify cost-reduction opportunities through design simplification, materials changes, and process improvements.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and suppliers to improve manufacturability and reduce lifecycle costs.
Support root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing, assembly, and field issues.
Ensure compliance with industry codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.


Documentation & Support

Prepare and maintain engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, specifications, manuals).
Support field engineering activities (approx. 10%).
Provide input into proposals and product requirements.

Compensation for this role is between $75k-$90k per year based on years of experience.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited)
3–5 years of experience in mechanical engineering
Strong experience in mechanical product design, prototyping, and testing
SolidWorks proficiency
AutoCAD proficiency
Ability to perform statistical analysis tied to mechanical performance or load-bearing equipment.
Experience with sheet metal, flat steel, or tube steel design

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Familiarity with rolling equipment (ex: rolling roof rigs used for suspended access systems)
Understanding of gear systems and gear motor design
Client support experience related to installation, structural components, or other field challenges
