Job Description

Insight Global's client in the Material Handling industry is searching for a 2nd Shift Controls Technician responsible for the following:

Diagnoses Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control issues using ladder logic and PanelView HMI.

Develops ad-hoc PLC ladder code changes with Rockwell RSLogix IDEs (RSLogix5000 preferred).

Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions (24VDC to 480VAC).

Conducts incident follow-up, root cause analysis, and documentation.

Documents control system and equipment changes.

Monitors system operations using SCADA and other tools.

Mentors technicians, providing feedback to improve performance.

Completes assigned safety training and complies with safety policies.

Available on call as needed.

Performs other related maintenance tasks.

Required Skills & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent; 2-year electrical training or Associates degree in Computer Science,
Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.

Minimum 1 year of experience in Allen Bradley (AB) PLC control diagnosis using ladder logic and PanelView HMI.

Minimum 1 year of experience in electrical troubleshooting and schematic reading.

Knowledge of AB PLC processors (CompactLogix and ControlLogix preferred) and I/O modules; familiarity with Mitsubishi, Omron, and Siemens control systems is a plus.

Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot relay logic, ladder diagrams, and control components (e.g., photo eyes, motor starters, relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, timers, solenoids, Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives, tachometers, and encoders).

Knowledge of PLC programs and ability to troubleshoot ladder logic, components (e.g., CPU backplanes, I/O boards, safety circuits, modules), and communication modules (Ethernet).
