Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Software Engineer for a permanent, direct-hire opportunity that will sit 100% onsite in Columbus, OH. This Software Engineer will serve as a technical consultant for a large, enterprise-level banking customer. This role will blend hands-on software engineering with delivery and customer advocacy. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of complex, enterprise-level banking environments from core systems/data integrations to modern SaaS architectures.

Key Responsibilities:
Solution Implementation and Delivery Excellence
• Able to design, build, and implement enterprise-grade software solutions aligned with customer and platform requirements.
• Able to develop well-structured, testable, and efficient code across application and integration layers (Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Kafka, PostgreSQL).
• Ensure solution quality through rigorous testing, peer reviews, and adherence to coding standards.
• Lead technical tasks from requirements gathering through deployment.
• Troubleshoot implementation issues and collaborate with teams to resolve them efficiently.

Customer Engagement and Technical Partnership
• Act as a trusted technical advisor to clients throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Translate business objectives into technical designs and configuration approaches.
• Conduct technical workshops, design reviews, and demonstrations to build client confidence.
• Support delivery and ensure a seamless transition from implementation to production.
• Maintain ongoing engagement with customer technology teams to support solution stability and evolution.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Enablement
• Collaborate with product engineering, architecture, and delivery teams to align implementations with platform strategy and standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying reusable patterns and best practices.
• Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions and communities of practice to strengthen team capabilities.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior developers or consultants.

Operational Support and Quality Assurance
• Assist in post-implementation support and troubleshooting, ensuring system reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor production performance and coordinate with operations teams to ensure uptime and data integrity.
• Document and report key implementation learnings for future improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

4+ years of Software Engineering experience, preferably in enterprise banking / FinTech environment
Experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, Apache Kafka, and PostgreSQL
Strong knowledge of cloud concepts (Azure Preferred), CI/CD Pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
Agile/Scrum experience

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Bachelors Degree in Computer Science (or similar)
MBA or Master's Degree
