A large financial organization is seeking a Senior Cloud Database Administrator (AWS) for a long term onsite contract role. We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator who will be instrumental in shaping and maintaining our cloud database infrastructure. This role combines traditional database administration expertise with modern cloud technologies, particularly within the Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem. The ideal candidate will serve as both a technical expert and a strategic advisor, helping to guide our database architecture decisions as we continue to scale our cloud presence.
Primary Responsibilities: In this position, you will be responsible for the complete lifecycle of our database environments, from initial design through implementation and ongoing maintenance. Your day-to-day activities will include managing our AWS RDS instances across multiple database engines, implementing robust backup and recovery strategies, and ensuring optimal performance of all database systems. You will work closely with development teams to understand their data needs and provide solutions that balance performance, cost, and reliability.
You will lead initiatives to modernize our database infrastructure, including planning and executing migrations from legacy systems to cloud-native solutions. Security will be a key focus area, requiring you to implement and maintain comprehensive database security measures including encryption, access controls, and compliance with industry standards.
Technical Requirements: You should have extensive experience with AWS database services, including RDS, Aurora, and DynamoDB. A deep understanding of database optimization techniques is essential, as is the ability to troubleshoot complex performance issues. You should be comfortable working with both relational and NoSQL databases, and have experience with high-availability configurations in cloud environments.
The ideal candidate will be someone who stays current with database technologies and cloud computing trends, has a proactive approach to problem-solving, and can balance technical excellence with business requirements. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and be able to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
