Job Description
An employer is seeking an Electro‑Mechanical Equipment Operator / Technician to join a 12‑person packaging operations team on 3rd shift (10:30pm-6:30am). This role is primarily equipment operation–focused (approximately 80%), supporting high‑volume packaging lines, with limited but important electro‑mechanical troubleshooting responsibilities.
This individual will operate, monitor, and lead production lines, perform quality checks, manage temporary labor, and ensure smooth shift handoffs. While not a traditional maintenance role, the ideal candidate has a strong industrial, electrical, and mechanical background and understands how packaging equipment functions—knowing why issues occur, how to identify them, and when to escalate to maintenance or controls teams.
The role supports filling and packaging equipment (e.g., fillers, cappers) and works closely with plant operations, maintenance, and controls to ensure safe, efficient, and accurate production. Accuracy, reliability, and clear communication are critical to maintaining operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate and lead packaging equipment on the production line (primary focus)
Run and coordinate line labor, including temporary staff
Perform line operation, quality checks, and documentation (~75%)
Execute cleaning, changeovers, and basic adjustments (15–20%)
Identify mechanical, pneumatic, or electrical issues and understand root cause
Use electrical multimeter (basic voltage checks)
Read and interpret basic electrical prints and manuals
Perform minor maintenance tasks only as needed (limited scope)
Recognize PLC‑related faults (no programming required) and communicate findings to the controls team
Lead the line during the shift and document detailed shift‑to‑shift turnover notes
Ensure safety, quality, and production standards are consistently met
