A client in the transportation industry is looking for a Lead Engineer to join their team for a six month contract to hire opportunity. They are looking for a highly experienced engineering leader with expertise in leading large-scale enterprise applications using microservices architecture, domain-driven design, and contemporary technology stacks (.NET, Spring Boot, React). You will provide strategic technical direction and people management, driving technical excellence, scalable solution delivery, and cloud adoption (AWS). Their environment is Java Spring Boot for backend, React for frontend, React Native/Swift/Kotlin for mobile. The role is 50/50 technical and leading, and 50/50 frontend and backend.
Lead and mentor engineering teams on architecture and implementation of microservices and distributed systems.
Drive adoption of domain-driven design to ensure business-aligned, modular, and scalable software solutions.
Architect, oversee, and optimize large-scale enterprise applications leveraging cloud technologies (AWS), microservices, and modern frameworks (.NET, Spring Boot, React).
Champion modern CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for rapid, reliable deployments.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to map technology strategies to business goals.
Guide engineering standards for secure, performant, and reliable microservices solutions.
Manage the full SDLCincluding planning, design, development, deployment, and operationsfor cloud-native and front-end applications.
Promote best practices in coding, documentation, and testing across chosen stacks and platforms.
Lead professional development and continuous improvement with a focus on emerging tech.

7+ years of engineering experience with at least 2 years leading teams or projects.
Deep expertise in microservices, distributed system design, and architecture.
Practical experience implementing domain-driven design in complex business environments.
Hands-on proficiency with .NET (C#), Java Spring Boot, and React for enterprise-scale app development.
Advanced knowledge of AWS, CI/CD tools, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Proven track record of delivering reliable, high-availability enterprise applications using cloud and modern architecture patterns.
Experience transitioning monolithic applications to microservices architectures.
AWS Certification (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps).
Advanced skills in software security, observability, and compliance for cloud platforms.
Familiarity with event-driven systems and asynchronous communication in microservices.
Experience with organizational change management and DevOps culture.
