Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Full Stack Java Developer for a leading insurance client’s innovation-focused software lab. This role is ideal for a highly collaborative, full-stack engineer with strong backend expertise who thrives in a fast-paced, team-first environment. The candidate will work across a variety of modern, cloud-native applications, leveraging AI-assisted development tools to build scalable and efficient solutions. They will partner with fellow practice leads to set the north star for architectural patterns, design principles, and implementation standards, bridging practitioners, and architects to ensure alignment with organizational goals. This individual will play a key role in shaping development practices, mentoring engineers, and driving innovation in how software is built in an evolving, AI-augmented landscape.
Day-to-Day:
• Develop and maintain full-stack applications across multiple GAS Lab workstreams
• Pair program with other engineers to build and deliver high-quality software
• Work across a variety of technologies and codebases (polyglot environment)
• Leverage AI tools to enhance development workflows and productivity
• Contribute to architectural decisions and software design patterns
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in complex distributed systems
• Participate in agile ceremonies and occasional in-person collaboration
• Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices
• Help drive adoption of modern engineering practices (XP, TDD, CI/CD)
• Continuously evaluate and improve development processes

Required Skills & Experience
• 6+ years of professional programming experience with Java/Spring Boot
• Front end experience with Vue.js or Vue or any typescript framework (react, angular, etc.)
• Experience leveraging AI coding tools (Claude is a plus, GitHub Copilot, etc.)
• Strong understanding of software engineering best practices (TDD, CI/CD, testing frameworks)
• Willing to be work in a paired programming environment
• Experience troubleshooting production systems (logs, metrics, distributed systems insights)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience working in cloud-native environments (Azure, Kubernetes, Tanzu/PCF)
• Experience with Redis, RabbitMQ
• Insurance industry experience (major plus)
• Experience influencing architecture/design standards
• Experience acting as a change agent in engineering organizations
