Job Description

An employer is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a long-term opportunity in the Blue Ash, OH area. This EE will be joining the R&D team for a leader in the medical device industry and be tied to the front-end design for handheld electronic devices. The EE must have experience assisting in translating from concept/ideas to engineering requirements and specifications. The EE will provide subject matter expertise for full lifecycle processes from concept to design including, but not limited to PCBA ideation, prototyping, manufacturing, and testing of the new product being launched to market. Ideal demonstrated background within analog and digital circuitry design, Cadence and/or Altium to design, simulate, and analyze circuit designs and embedded electrical design. The goal is to provide deliverables for engineering requirements and specifications for the handheld, generators and any other electrical components that will support the product for end customer procedures. Background in a regulated environment, aerospace, automotive or medical device is preferred to follow IEC standards. The customer wants to hear how the EE has successfully translated from concept to design and why they are comfortable taking that past experience into the R&D environment for sustained product lifecycle success.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience in PCBA ideation, concept generation, design, prototyping, manufacturing, and troubleshooting experience
5+ years with analog and digital circuitry design and development
Demonstrated proficiency in Cadence and/or Altium to design, simulate, and analyze circuit designs
Experience with embedded electrical design
Ability to deliver engineering requirements and specifications from concept through design

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience formulating and coordinating different engineering approaches to test hypotheses, such as hand calculations, computational modeling and simulation, empirical testing (benchtop and in vivo) and method development as appropriate
Experience with rigid-flex PCBAs and flex PCBAs
Experience with integration of motors in electrical systems
Knowledge and how to control DC motors (e.g. brushed, brushless, servo, etc.)
Experience with various communication protocols (e.g. Bluetooth, SPI, I2C, USB, UART, USART, etc.)
