Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Business Intelligence Engineer II for a finance-focused client supporting highly sensitive data initiatives. This individual will work closely with Finance stakeholders to gather reporting requirements, design data models, and deliver high-quality Power BI dashboards. The ideal candidate is technically strong in Power BI, SQL, and DAX, and equally comfortable leading requirement-gathering conversations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating complex business needs into intuitive, secure, and scalable BI solutions.
Day-to-Day:
- Partner with Finance stakeholders to gather and document reporting requirements
- Design and develop Power BI dashboards and reports
- Build and maintain SQL queries and data models
- Create DAX measures and calculations to support business insights
- Use Power Query (M Language) for data transformation
- Ensure secure access to sensitive financial data
- Participate in requirement-gathering sessions and solution design discussions
- Continuously improve performance, usability, and reliability of BI solutions

Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
- 3 years of Power BI (hands-on development experience)
- 4 years SQL (advanced querying)
- SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
- DAX (measures, calculations, optimization)
- Power Query / M Language
- Experience building secure, data-sensitive BI solutions
- Strong requirement gathering / criteria gathering experience
- Ability to translate business needs into Power BI solutions
- Experience working directly with Finance or business stakeholders
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Power Automate
- Python
- Exposure to Databricks
- Experience with Row-Level Security (RLS)
- Understanding of data governance or access control
- Experience working in enterprise data environments
