We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join our team and lead the optimization and modernization of our legacy Vehicle Insurance Program (VIP) system. This system facilitates an employee benefit of providing discounted car insurance. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in PL/SQL development, database management, and DevOps practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Code Optimization and Cleanup:
Analyze and clean up unused functions, procedures, batch programs, and tables.
Remove unnecessary loops and queries within retained functions and procedures.
Optimize inefficient queries and improve overall system performance.
Add comprehensive comments to the code to enhance readability and maintainability.
Database Management:
Create and manage a new schema in the DEV environment (VIP2) for development and testing.
Ensure synchronization of data between HR and VIP databases.
Implement proper fields in essential tables to reduce bugs and support issues.
Testing and Validation:
Conduct parallel testing between VIP and VIP2 to ensure no functionality is broken.
Compare files, reports, CSV exports, etc., between VIP and VIP2.
Perform thorough QA testing in the VIP2 QA environment.
Documentation:
Develop an end-to-end process document in MS Word format to assist future developers.
Document all changes and testing results for transparency and future reference.
Source Control and DevOps:
Check code into the source control system (IBM ClearCase or GitHub).
Implement a DevOps pipeline (IBM Kintana, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions) for code deployment.
Ensure coding and testing are done in DEV, further testing in QA, and production code changes are managed through the DevOps pipeline.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with the contract developer and provide guidance.
Coordinate with the manager for escalation and support.
Maintain clear communication channels with all stakeholders.

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oracle PL/SQL development.
Strong understanding of database management and optimization techniques.
Experience with source control systems (IBM ClearCase, GitHub) and DevOps tools (IBM Kintana, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with legacy system modernization.
Familiarity with employee benefit systems and insurance domain.
Knowledge of Linux operating systems.
Ability to mentor and guide junior developers.
