Job Description
The UPS Operational SME is responsible for the reliability, performance, and optimization of uninterruptible power supply systems supporting mission‑critical facilities. This role serves as the technical authority for UPS infrastructure, supporting system design input, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to ensure maximum uptime in high‑availability environments.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as technical SME for UPS systems, including architecture, redundancy (N+1, 2N), runtime, and failure analysis
Lead or support preventive and corrective maintenance, battery management, firmware updates, and component replacements
Troubleshoot complex UPS, power quality, and system integration issues
Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and drive reliability and performance improvements
Develop and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, and training materials
Provide hands‑on training and guidance for operations and technical teams
Analyze performance data, KPIs, and monitoring systems to optimize availability and efficiency
Support new deployments, upgrades, vendor evaluations, and capacity planning
Provide on‑call support for critical incidents and participate in disaster recovery planning

Required Skills & Experience
5–7+ years of hands‑on UPS experience in mission‑critical environments (data centers, healthcare, industrial, telecom)
Strong knowledge of UPS topologies, battery technologies, and power electronics
Experience with generators, switchgear, ATS, and power distribution systems
Ability to read electrical one‑lines, schematics, and OEM documentation
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience) preferred
Manufacturer or industry certifications (APC/Schneider, Eaton, Vertiv, NFPA 70E, CDCP) a plus
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience supporting hyperscale or high-density AI/HPC Data Centers.
Advanced troubleshooting and systems‑level thinking
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently in high‑risk, high‑availability environments
