Job Description
Insight Global is supporting a construction technology client in recruiting a hands-on Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with a strong focus on AI-augmented and agentic testing practices. This role partners closely with engineering to ensure quality is built early and continuously across a modern, cloud-based application.
The technical environment is as follows:
- Backend: Java (modern versions), Spring Boot, AWS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis
- Frontend: Angular, TypeScript, state management, real-time streaming tech
- QA: Selenium/Cucumber (or similar), evolving toward AI-assisted test workflows
Key responsibilities could include:
- Leverage AI coding agents to accelerate test creation, failure analysis, and coverage identification
- Design and execute end-to-end testing across UI, API, and system layers
- Build and maintain scalable, reliable test automation frameworks
- Collaborate with developers to influence test strategy, quality standards, and early risk detection
- Improve CI/CD feedback loops, test reporting, and signal-to-noise ratio
Location: Remote, NC/SC preferred, with quarterly travel to Winston-Salem
Duration: Permanent Hire
Salary: $110-125k
Hours: Mon-Fri 8-5pm EST
Interview Process:
- 1st round with the AI Manager and HR
- 2nd round with the development team (of 5) using the sandbox method

Required Skills & Experience
- 2-3 years of experience as an SDET or QA Engineer in modern software environments
- Practical use of AI tools in testing or development workflows, with 6 months to 1 year of relevant agentic or AI experience
- Strong programming ability (Java, Python, TypeScript, or similar)
- Hands-on experience with automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong communication and systems-level thinking
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience testing cloud-native or distributed systems
- Demonstrated improvements in test efficiency or release cycle time
- Exposure to agent frameworks or advanced AI-driven testing approaches
