Position Summary
Our client, a leading energy and EPC organization, is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the execution of high-voltage Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substation projects. This individual will be responsible for managing project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, risk, stakeholder communication, and project delivery from planning through commissioning and closeout.
The ideal candidate brings deep substation EPC experience, strong financial and risk management skills, and hands-on knowledge of substation construction and commissioning.
Responsibilities
• Lead AIS and GIS substation EPC projects from initiation through commissioning and closeout.
• Manage project scope, schedule, budget, forecasting, and resource planning across multiple projects.
• Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and client-facing activities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
• Analyze project financials, monitor performance, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate technical, commercial, and execution risks.
• Ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and EHS policies.
• Lead project meetings, provide status updates, and maintain stakeholder alignment.
• Resolve issues that may impact project cost, schedule, quality, or safety.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to both technical and non-technical project team members.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering preferred).
• 7–10+ years of Project Management experience supporting AIS and/or GIS substation EPC projects.
• Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage AIS and GIS equipment.
• Familiarity with electrical engineering principles and substation design.
• Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and financial reporting.
• Strong risk management and project execution experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and conflict resolution skills.
• Experience ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) requirements.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices.
• PMP Certification.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience working for an EPC firm supporting utility, transmission, or energy infrastructure projects.
• Experience leading large-scale transmission, utility, or substation capital projects.
• Located in or near Raleigh, NC or Orlando, FL.
