Job Description

The Senior Systems Engineer is an exciting position that helps shape how our products work in the complex hospital IT environment. This person provides leadership and guidance in translating business, customer, and regulatory needs into detailed product requirements that ensure our solutions are robust, performant, and functional. The Senior Systems Engineer will apply analytical rigor to proposed solutions to determine failure cases, assess impact to existing functionality, and define overall system performance needs. This person will also conduct design reviews and assess our products for technical and patient risk.

Interact with business stakeholders and customers to understand their problems and needs
Define the product from a requirements perspective and analyze it for risk
o Translate customer needs, business constraints, and regulatory requirements into functional and performance requirements
o Collaborate with system architects and engineers to ensure the requirements define major modules, concepts, intended environments and the relationships between them
o Ensure robust, reliable, and secure system interfaces and integrations
o Create and maintain the functional specification documentation in a lightweight and concise format, while still being very thorough and detailed
o Oversee maintenance of the risk management plan, including the risk analysis, by identifying and mitigating hazards associated with a design
o Evaluate risk by using methodologies such as DFMEA and Risk/Hazard Analysis
Collaborate with product management, clinicians, UX designers, and customers to explain the technical workings of the system, estimate new features, and provide solution options
Conduct impact analysis for design changes and implement necessary actions
Conduct and integrate in-depth design reviews throughout the product development process
Effectively work with test engineering, throughout the project to drive efficiency in V&V

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years experience in a Systems Engineer, Business Analyst, System Analyst or similar requirements definition role
BS Degree in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, etc.) or significant experience with technical projects
Above average verbal and written communication skills
Skilled at leading meetings, conflict resolution, and making presentations
Strategic thinker, but can execute with great attention to detail
Must be able to work in the absence of complete information and remain able to make timely, high quality decisions

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience in the medical device industry and FDA regulations or experience in another regulated industry
Mobile Device experience
Prior hands-on development experience as a software, electrical, or computer engineer
