Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a Mid-Level Control and Protection Engineer to join our 24/7 Remote Operations Center. In this role, you'll monitor SCADA systems for multiple utility clients, respond to alarms, and coordinate with field teams to ensure grid reliability and rapid issue resolution. You'll use advanced digital tools and platforms like Slack to assess system conditions, triage alerts, and escalate critical events. Your work will support compliance, efficiency, and security across complex grid environments. This 24/7 shift-based position requires technical expertise, strong situational awareness, and clear communication. You'll help refine operational protocols, improve response times, and identify trends for engineering follow-up. Key Responsibilities
Perform real-time monitoring of SCADA systems across a diverse utility and renewable energy
portfolio.
Acknowledge, document, and respond to system alarms as they occur.
Use collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack) to communicate live events, issues, or escalations with
internal teams and stakeholders.
Identify and escalate high-level or critical alarms to local site personnel per established protocols.
Conduct initial remote diagnostics and provide technical context to field engineers or technicians.
Ensure all incidents are logged and tracked accurately within internal systems.
Support the engineering team by flagging recurring issues or system performance concerns for
review.
Assist in developing and refining alarm management and escalation procedures.
Participate in shift rotations to ensure 24/7 coverage.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Power Systems, or a related field.
37 years of experience in SCADA monitoring, control/protection systems, or utility operations.
Vast knowledge of high voltage substation equipment
Familiarity with real-time monitoring software and remote diagnostics tools.
Strong communication skills, especially in fast-paced and high-pressure situations.
Comfortable using communication platforms such as Slack, Teams, or similar tools.
Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure while managing simultaneous alerts and requests.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Working knowledge of grid operations, BESS, and substation controls.
Experience working in a 24/7 control center or operational environment.
Substation Monitoring experience
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Power Systems, or a related field.
