Job Description

The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) serves as a member of the Executive Team and is responsible for reporting to and directly working with the CEO and the Executive Team
with accomplishing the strategic and policy goals for the organization. In addition, the CMO is responsible for leadership and management of the Office of Medical Director (OMD) and assisting the Board staff and the Board in reviewing quality of care cases and making recommendations to the Board regarding those matters. Finally, the CMO has numerous outward facing responsibilities involving external relations, licensee
support and emerging matters impacting quality of care and patient safety.

Required Skills & Experience

-Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree.
• Appropriate postgraduate training, preferably in a broadly based field of medicine.
• A minimum of ten years of clinical practice experience.
• American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Board Certification.
• Active NC license with no disciplinary action.
• Ability to acquire comprehensive and functional knowledge of all relevant laws, rules, regulations, and disciplinary actions applied in regard to the practice of medicine in North Carolina, including those regulating private practice, hospitals, and insurance companies, and familiarity with the various law enforcement organizations, medical schools and professional organizations involved.
