Job Description
Day-to-Day:
o Help maintain honey bee apiaries and related equipment
o Perform honey bee gut dissections and Isolate microbes of interest for probiotic development.
o Conduct field and cage experiments to measure impact of gut homogenate exposure on honey bee health and behavior.
o Conduct 16S rRNA sequencing and qPCR to characterize microbiomes.
o Analyze collected data using statistical software (e.g., R, Python).
o Document findings, draft reports, and prepare publications and presentations.
o Mentor and train student researchers on lab and beekeeping techniques.
o Collaborate with the PI on experimental design and assist with related projects.
Contribute to product development and commercialization efforts, including patent preparation.

Required Skills & Experience
· Ph.D. in Entomology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology , or related fields (recent graduates encouraged).
· Strong emphasis on molecular biology techniques
· Ability to design and conduct independent research projects.
· Proficient in data collection and statistical analysis using familiar software (e.g., R, Python, SPSS).
· Hands-on lab experience in molecular and microbiology methods.
· Dependable and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
· Experience working with honey bees or other social insects
· Experience with microbiology and ethology
Demonstrated interest in pollinators, environment, and sustainability
