Job Description
A healthcare client in the Greensboro, NC area is seeking a Level 2 Network Engineer to support and remediate Cisco network infrastructure across clinic and enterprise environments. This is a highly hands‑on, execution‑focused role centered on vulnerability remediation, IOS upgrades, patching, and rapid troubleshooting in production environments.
This position is 80% onsite / 20% remote, with heavy onsite presence early in the engagement (ex: Tuesday–Thursday) to accelerate ramp‑up and complete critical work across multiple sites. The ideal candidate has strong foundational knowledge of Cisco infrastructure, understands how hardware is physically and logically connected, and can quickly diagnose and recover from network issues without escalation delays.
Additional Responsibilities:
· Execute vulnerability remediation, patching, and hardening across Cisco network infrastructure to maintain security and compliance
· Perform IOS and IOS‑XE upgrades on switches and related network devices, including planning, execution, validation, and rollback when needed
· Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents, including:
· Site‑level outages
· Switch failures
· Connectivity and routing issues at Layer 2 and Layer 3
· Analyze IP addressing, port configurations (including access vs trunk ports), and device configurations to diagnose and resolve issues
· Respond to production issues quickly and confidently, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations
· Coordinate and execute changes through formal change‑management processes
· Validate remediation efforts and confirm stability following patches or upgrades
· Work onsite with site and infrastructure teams during early ramp‑up to address accumulated work and stabilize environments
· Partner with broader infrastructure and security teams to maintain a secure, reliable Cisco network environment

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of network engineering experience in medium to enterprise‑level environments
• Strong experience with Cisco network infrastructure (Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching, IOS and IOS-XE deployments and upgrades).
• Proven ability to troubleshoot network outages and degraded connectivity
• Experience executing production patches and IOS upgrades
• Infrastructure hardening and vulnerability remediation
• Experience executing Cisco recovery procedures following failures (e.g., switch failures, failed upgrades)
• Experience working in change‑controlled environments, including submitting and executing changes through formal change‑management processes
• Background supporting production environments with high availability and uptime requirements
• Comfort working in regulated environments, such as healthcare or other compliance‑driven settings
• Willingness and ability to work primarily 80% onsite and 20% remote in Greensboro, NC during initial ramp-up.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Healthcare, hospital, or clinic IT experience
• Solid understanding of routing protocols, such as BGP or OSPF
• Experience remediating vulnerabilities identified by centralized tools or security teams (e.g., executing fixes rather than owning the scanning platform)
• Familiarity with Cisco hardening standards, baseline configurations, or gold images
• Experience supporting network infrastructure across multiple sites or locations
