Job Description
An employer is seeking a Java Developer for a large financial client sitting in Charlotte, NC or Plano, TX. We’re seeking a skilled and proactive Java Developer with at least 6 years of hands-on experience in enterprise application development and migration. This role will focus on modernizing legacy systems, migrating applications from traditional environments to cloud-native platforms, and optimizing performance across the stack. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to re-architect, refactor, and deploy mission-critical applications using Spring Boot, SQL, OpenShift, and WebLogic.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and contribute to the migration of legacy Java applications to modern cloud environments (OpenShift)
• Refactor and optimize existing codebases using Spring Boot and microservices architecture
• Design and implement robust SQL queries and database schemas to support scalable backend services
• Configure and manage WebLogic application servers during migration and post-deployment phases
• Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure seamless CI/CD integration and containerization
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and ensure high availability of migrated applications
• Document migration strategies, technical decisions, and deployment procedures

Required Skills & Experience
• 6+ years of professional experience in Java development, with strong expertise in Spring Boot
• Proficiency in SQL for relational database design and optimization
• Hands-on experience with OpenShift or similar container orchestration platforms
• Solid understanding of WebLogic server configuration and deployment
• Experience with application migration, refactoring, and modernization projects
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and Agile methodologies
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team
