Job Description

Overview
This team serves as the front‑door intake function for internal infrastructure requests across server, storage, and database platforms within a large telecom environment. The group acts as a technical backstop for downstream engineering teams by translating business and network operations requests into clear, validated build designs that can be executed by fulfillment teams.
This role is ideal for junior infrastructure professionals or early‑career engineers who aspire to grow into an architect or senior infrastructure role. The position requires strong problem‑solving skills, foundational infrastructure knowledge, and the ability to work directly with internal technical teams to clarify requirements and validate feasibility.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as the initial intake point for internal teams requesting new or expanded infrastructure (servers, storage, databases, networking).
Field frequent requests from Network Operations (NetOps) and other infrastructure teams seeking capacity increases, expansions, or new provisioning.
Validate request details including:
Current vs. requested capacity (e.g., storage expansion from 64GB to 128GB)
Environmental constraints and platform standards
Feasibility and available capacity
Translate infrastructure “asks” into technical designs and build sheets that downstream engineering and fulfillment teams will use to deploy physical or virtual systems.
Partner with non‑technical and semi‑technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and fill in missing details.
Identify gaps, risks, or conflicts in incoming requests and work with stakeholders to resolve them before handoff.
Support systems integration efforts by ensuring designs align with existing infrastructure standards and architectures.
Document intake decisions, assumptions, and designs clearly and consistently.

Required Skills & Experience

2–5 years of experience in infrastructure, systems engineering, application support, or a related technical role.
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills with the ability to quickly assess requests and identify what information is missing.
Solid base technical knowledge across server, storage, networking, or database concepts.
Comfortable working with both technical and non‑technical teams.
Ability to translate vague requirements into structured, actionable designs.
Proficiency with standard documentation and diagramming tools.

Candidates are not expected to be deep experts, but must understand core infrastructure concepts and be able to reason through problems, including:
Networking concepts such as NIC teaming / NIC bonding.
Storage fundamentals such as volume mount points.
Virtualization concepts, including:
Difference between virtual machines (hardware abstraction) and containers (OS abstraction).
High‑level understanding of microservices and modern application architectures.
General familiarity with infrastructure platforms (on‑prem, cloud, or hybrid).

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Background in infrastructure operations, systems engineering, or platform support.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), especially candidates coming from Microsoft‑aligned or application support backgrounds looking to move deeper into infrastructure.
Interest in growing into an architect or senior infrastructure engineering role.
