Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Environment, Health, and Safety / Data Center Construction Project Manager to work onsite in Catawba County, NC. This person will join the land development and community organization responsible for delivery data center campus sites to a condition ready for permanent works to support the construction of data centers. This team oversees the planning, compliance, and progress for onsite delivery of projects with a wide variety of unique requirements favoring civil specialties including site earthworks, building demolition, environmental remediation, grading and vegetation removal, and substation pad construction. We have a need for this person to support the project management team in monitoring the contractor's implementation of the Site-Specific Safety Plan. All projects will involve the management of significant High-Risk Activities (HRA) both on individual sites and cumulatively across all of the project works. Primary risks will include, but not be limited to excavations, mobile equipment, vehicle traffic, material handling, lifting activities, electrical, and working from heights.


Project Objectives
Ensure compliance with the national statutory EHS requirements for each construction project.
* Where practicable implement best practice, and lessons learned, across each project.
* Enhance, and improve, existing construction safety management procedures through a visible on-site presence, and through active participation in all aspects of day-to-day EHS management on the projects.
* Monitor the contractor's implementation of Global Construction Safety Policy and High-Risk Activities.
* Assist on an as needed basis in the development of specific safety programs.
* Provide an independent review, and monitoring of construction Health & Safety management procedures in place for each project; with a view to cross-evaluation of projects, sharing lessons learned / best practice, and driving continuous improvement across the Microsoft construction supply chain.

Role Specifications
* Assisting in the identification, and management, of High-Risk Activities at each stage of the projects including liaising with design teams, working with contractors in forward safety planning, and co-ordination of works activities.
* Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessment and evaluation across all construction projects.
* Reviewing, and assessing, the EHS implications of changes as they occur during construction projects.
* Report, support, and evaluate the contractor's implementation of the Site-Specific Safety and High-Risk Activities Plan.
* Actively engage with all aspects of day-to-day Health & Safety management
o Attendance and participation in Meetings, as appropriate
o Pull Planning or Collaborative Planning Meetings
o Level 1-3 Planning Meetings, as appropriate
o Training workshops
o Daily Activity Briefings
o Management reviews
o Site Safety Committee Meetings
o High Risk Activities Meetings
o Planning and coordination review Meetings
* Conduct independent EHS and HRA Audits on all aspects of construction management including:
o Monitoring compliance between Health & Safety planning and actual work on site
o Assessing compliance with agreed KPIs across all project stages
o Communications of Health & Safety at all levels
o Coordination of work activities on the sites
o Identification, assessment, and evaluation of high-risk activities
o Training and education
o Review of safe plans of action, lifting plans, and other planning activities as appropriate.
o Competency of contractors and operatives.
o Assessment of accidents, incidents, & near misses, including the evaluation of findings, and monitoring the implementation of corrective and preventive measures.
* On-going assessment of the resources provided by contractors to enable implementation of the contractor's safety management program
* Encouraging and promoting EHS initiatives aimed at influencing positive safety behavior and culture on the site.
* Encouraging, and promoting, contractor participation in structured EHS recognition and wellness programs.
* Reporting and supporting the project management team regarding EHS.
* It is emphasized that the proposed role of the client adviser is intended as collaborative and supporting that of the main contractor. The contractor will maintain responsibility for all aspects of safety management on site.

Pay range for this is between 45-50/hr

Required Skills & Experience

* Minimum 10 years' experience in a role with formal qualification in EHS management., with relevant experience in construction Health & Safety.

* Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with extensive experience in contractor communications, liaising with design teams, and other project professionals.

* Degree and/or certification in Health & Safety profession.

* Able to stand and walk for multiple hours while surveying the work environment.

* Flexible work schedule with the understanding that at least 40 hours a week is expected on site, plus availability to work some weekends.

* Good to strong computer skills, with experience in EHS database programs.

* Non-restrictive Driver's License and a vehicle to commute between multiple campuses in the area.
