Job Description

Conduct Configuration Reviews: Perform manual and automated comparisons of system configurations against defined security baselines on a quarterly basis.
Validate Evidence: Scrutinize evidence of configuration settings, ensuring it originates from the correct sources and accurately reflects compliance requirements.
Identify and Document Discrepancies: Clearly identify and document any deviations from established baselines, marking items as pass or fail based on specific criteria.
Utilize Security Tools: Work with configuration compliance tools, including but not limited to Qualys and Symantec, to automate and streamline compliance checks.
Leverage Regular Expressions (RegEx):Apply your understanding of RegEx to configure and fine-tune security tools for accurate configuration scanning.
Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with team members to understand requirements and effectively communicate compliance findings.
Follow Directions and Deliver Outcomes: Execute tasks precisely according to provided directions and ensure timely, accurate delivery of all compliance outcomes.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:
Experience: 2+ years of experience in system administration, IT operations, or a related field; ideally 4-6 years.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

System Administration Background: Proven experience in system administration, specifically with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems. This includes understanding system configurations, file systems, and command-line interfaces.
Workstation Configuration Knowledge: Familiarity with workstation environments and the distinct processes and locations for configuration compared to server environments.
Security Awareness: A foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and accuracy in reviewing configurations and documentation.
Ability to Follow Directions: Demonstrated ability to meticulously follow instructions and execute tasks as prescribed.
Outcome-Oriented: A drive to deliver accurate and timely results.
Go-Getter Mentality: Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and proactively contribute to team goals.
Foundational Technology Awareness: A solid grasp of general technology concepts.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

"Nice-to-Haves":
Regular Expression (RegEx) Proficiency: Experience with RegEx for pattern matching and text manipulation, particularly in the context of configuring security tools.
Symantec Experience: Familiarity with Symantec security products, particularly those related to configuration compliance.
Qualys Experience: Hands-on experience with Qualys, especially its configuration compliance modules.
Networking Fundamentals (Plus): While not the primary focus, an understanding of networking concepts is a plus, as configuration compliance can sometimes touch upon network device settings.
