Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a DB2 Engineer to join a large enterprise environment supporting critical production systems. This individual will own the performance and scalability of the data layer, ensuring queries run efficiently and systems can handle large-scale transactional workloads. The ideal candidate is highly hands-on, capable of diagnosing complex performance issues, and comfortable collaborating directly with development teams to optimize database design and execution.
Day-to-Day:
• Optimize database performance and query efficiency
• Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks
• Partner with developers to improve SQL and schema design
• Monitor DB2 system health (locks, CPU, IO usage)
• Prevent performance degradation before production impact
• Troubleshoot high-impact data issues in real time
Pay $60-65/hr

Required Skills & Experience
Must-Haves:
• Strong DB2 experience in enterprise environments
• Deep expertise in:
○ SQL tuning
○ Query performance optimization
• Experience with:
○ Indexing, partitioning, clustering
○ Data modeling and optimization
• Ability to troubleshoot:
○ Locks, contention, IO bottlenecks
• Experience working with large-scale datasets (millions of rows)
• Ability to:
○ Enter a new environment
○ Read configs/subsystems
○ Ramp up quickly with minimal support
Strong collaboration with developers on query optimization
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
• Experience with denormalization strategies
• Exposure to mainframe environments (z/OS)
• Automation exposure (Ansible or similar)
