Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Process Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of advanced metrology and inspection processes for optical and precision hardware assemblies. This role will serve as a technical authority in CMM, laser tracker, and precision measurement systems, supporting both production and new product introduction in a high-tolerance manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in dimensional metrology, GD&T, and inspection process development, with the ability to translate complex optical/mechanical product definitions into robust, repeatable inspection solutions. This will be a first shift position Monday-Friday 7am to 4pm.

Required Skills & Experience
Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, Metrology, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience) 2 years without a masters, 4 years with bachelors, or 8 years with no degree
Strong hands-on experience with CMMs, laser trackers, and precision dimensional inspection tools
Proven ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, GD&T, and optical/mechanical specifications
Experience developing and modifying metrology programs and inspection methods
Strong troubleshooting skills in a precision manufacturing environment
Effective communication and ability to work cross-functionally
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related field
Experience with metrology software such as:
PC-DMIS, PolyWorks, SpatialAnalyzer, Calypso, Verisurf
Experience supporting optical systems, aerospace components, precision assemblies, or tight-tolerance manufacturing
Experience with:
Measurement System Analysis (MSA)
GR&R and capability analysis
SPC and statistical methods
Experience designing fixtures, tooling, or error-reduction measurement setups
Familiarity with quality systems, nonconformance processes, and corrective action frameworks
Prior experience training technicians or serving as a technical lead
