An Insight Global client is seeking a Remote Copy Editor to support the compilation, editing, proofreading, and product delivery process for case law content for a state government. This jobs requires a detail-oriented and adaptive individual to follow the courts requirements for reporting structure and content for their law cases. This individual needs to have a comprehensive understanding of the best practices following style manuals, strong English understanding for proofing and editing, strong attention to detail and an understanding of how to edit PDFs within Adobe. On a day to day basis, this person will be taking in a query log, reviewing the content to ensure it is up to the manual standards and citations and content are in the correct style. This is a 6- month contract with a highly likely extension and probably conversion. You will undergo a 10-week training and join a team of 19 others. The individual can sit anywhere in the U.S. but will be required to work PST for the majority of the role. This team values team bonding and a work-life balance. - Education in Journalism/English/Law or a related text heavy field in higher education or working experience
- Proofing or editing experience preferably following citation or grammar manual
- Ability to edit PDFs in Adobe
- A comprehensive understanding of citation format, editing cases for approved styles and proofing is desired
- Editing legal documents following a citation Style Manual
- Legal writing background or paralegal experience
