Job Description

One of our financial clients is looking for a DevOps/Ansible Engineer to join their team sitting in Midtown Manhattan 3x a week, Tuesday-Thursday. They are seeking a Mid-to-Senior Level Ansible Automation Engineer to lead a full migration from Puppet to Ansible. The organization has relied on Puppet for over a decade, but after a recent discovery phase, have selected Ansible (Red Hat) as the future configuration management platform. The role involves converting Puppet manifests/tunes into Ansible playbooks, customizing configurations for specialized systems, implementing automation in AWS (Azure a plus), and ensuring thorough testing and validation. Candidates should have 5–10 years of experience, strong Ansible expertise, AWS proficiency, familiarity with Puppet, and knowledge of Red Hat. The goal is to deliver a fully automated, validated Ansible environment while documenting processes for internal teams. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth transition while maintaining operational stability.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5-10+ years of experience with Ansible, (playbook development, automation frameworks) preferably in a large migration project
• Experience with Orchestrations using AWS
• Experience with AWS SSM
• Experience with Python for automation
• Experience with Git Ops to manage infrastructure and application deployments automatically
• Knowledge of Red Hat ecosystem
• Strong organizational and communication skills, be detail-oriented, meet deadlines, able to multitask and prioritize.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Previous experience with Puppet for understanding legacy configurations
• Prior involvement in large-scale configuration management migrations
• Infrastructure as code (IaC) experience using AWS CloudFormation
• Observability background using Amazon Cloud Watch
