Job Description

Insight Global is hiring a CCI (Chief Construction Inspector) to join one of our largest utility clients' Central Construction team in Staten Island. This position takes place 5 days a week onsite and requires frequent travel to various field sites across the five boroughs. This opportunity is a 6-month contract to hire with the potential to convert to a full-time role, dependent on performance through the assignment and needs of the business.

In this position, the CCI will be overseeing one to three union contractors performing facilities related work. Examples of some of these projects would be repair, building, and/or renovations of EV charging stations/gas stations/etc.

The primary duties of a Construction Contract Inspector (CCI) include overseeing field teams and contractors to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety regulations. This role involves enforcing regulatory codes, managing day-to-day site operations, maintaining thorough project documentation, and monitoring budgets and contractor performance using the Contractor Oversight System (COS). Additional responsibilities may involve emergency response, conducting damage assessments, and collaborating with internal departments to address field-related challenges safely and effectively.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR Associate's degree and 4 years of relevant experience
• Construction management background
• Working experience in electrical/mechanical/civil/chemical engineering
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings/specs
• Knowledge of NYC and NYS Construction Codes (buildings, highway, water/sewer, etc)
• Demonstrated knowledge of subsurface infrastructure construction
• Knowledge of safety and environmental procedures specific to: generating stations, substations, commercial facilities, public streets, tunnels, bridges, etc.
• Working knowledge of industry standard construction, means, methods, and safety
• Previous experience with scheduling, project planning, and coordination
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access Database)
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the five boroughs

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• OSHA 30 certification
• Proficiency in ProjectWise, AutoCADM, MicroStation, Primavera, Maximo, and/or Oracle Work Management System
• Knowledge of NYS and NYC DOT rules, regulations, and permits
