Job Description

The Class A Mechanic is responsible for performing high-level diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a fleet of heavy-duty trucks. This role focuses on hands-on mechanical expertise rather than formal certifications and works closely with the shop manager on-site daily.
Responsibilities:
• Perform advanced mechanical diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy-duty trucks
• Service and maintain a fleet of approximately 15 trucks in New York
• Work primarily on Kenworth trucks, with additional exposure to Peterbilt and Mack trucks
• Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other major components
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient shop environment
• Collaborate daily with the shop manager and team on-site
Equipment & Tools:
• Shop provides some tools
Preference for candidates who bring and use their own tools

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience performing high-level mechanical work (certifications not required)
• Experience working on Kenworth trucks preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable in an on-site shop environment

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with PACCAR engines is a plus
