Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Boiler Tender with hands-on experience maintaining, operating, repairing, and performing teardowns on low pressure steam and gas-fired boiler systems. This role is strictly boiler-focused—no chiller experience required.
Ideal candidates will have strong mechanical aptitude, proven boiler maintenance experience, and the ability to perform preventive and corrective work in a live facility environment. Residential, residential-to-light-commercial, or industrial backgrounds are all acceptable.

Key Responsibilities
Boiler Operations & Maintenance
• Operate, monitor, and maintain low pressure steam and hydronic boilers.
• Perform full boiler teardowns, cleaning, inspections, and seasonal readiness work.
• Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on all boiler-related components.
• Troubleshoot and repair boiler controls, valves, and black iron piping.
• Work hands-on with steam and gas-fired equipment.
General Mechanical Duties
• Perform basic and emergency mechanical repairs related to boiler plant systems.
• Utilize the Facility CMMS for work order management and documentation.
• Assist with piping repairs, fittings, and system adjustments as needed.
Safety & Compliance
• Follow OSHA and site-specific safety requirements.
• Participate in safety trainings and internal certifications.
• Obtain the Nassau County Hot Works Certification after onboarding (company-supported).

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience working with boilers (residential, light commercial, or industrial all acceptable).
• Strong hands-on experience with steam and hydronic boiler systems.
• Proven experience with boiler teardowns, cleanouts, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to troubleshoot boiler controls, burners, gas lines, and black iron piping.
• Familiarity with CMMS tools.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• High school diploma or technical/trade school background preferred.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with industrial or institutional boiler operations.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of seasonal boiler preparation and shutdown procedures.
