Looking for a Relay Applications Engineer to join the Protective Systems Testing group within Substation Operations.
Responsibilities include
Leading the design, development, and implementation of various microprocessor relay upgrade projects.
Traveling to field locations to assist personnel in resolving issues during system outages
Bench testing responsibilities on new microprocessor-based relay upgrades.
Utilizing NERC CIP Cyber Security Standards for passwords and configuration of change management tool and ensure requirements are met during commissioning of new relay systems.
Developing operational and maintenance test instructions for relays.
Leading and developing written evaluation of system disturbances and coordination with Engineering and submit Engineering Service Requests.
Developing test plans for microprocessor relays, evaluate maintenance practices and improve methods for more efficiency.
Providing necessary training for relay technicians.
Acting as technical liaison between Central Engineering and various groups Cyber Security Training Program and aspects of Personnel Risk Assessment Program.
Industry involvement with EPRI, NATF and other organizations on relay applications.
Developing a thorough understanding on CIP 002, CIP 007 and CIP 010.
Ensuring microprocessor relays are in compliance as CIP 002, CIP 007 and CIP 010.
Interfacing with designated departments, service vendors, and contractors to achieve sustainable compliance with NERC CIP requirements.

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering.
5+ years experience in system testing for relay protection.
Experience with microprocessor-based relays and power systems.
Familiarity in creating test plans for the commissioning of relay protection systems.
Industry experience in utilities, power transmission, power distribution, or equipment manufacturing.
Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to deliver exemplary customer service, champion change and influence others to improve processes.
Knowledge of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) CIP Standards or similar State, Local, or Government regulations.
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and VISIO.
Bachelors in Engineering.
Ability to work 5 days/week onsite in Bronx, New York.
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Knowledge in IEC 61850 standards.
