Job Description
In this role, the Lead System and Database Administrator oversees the daily administration, optimization, and security of both server and database environments across Linux and Windows platforms. The position involves managing system performance, executing upgrades, patches, and migrations, and troubleshooting to ensure reliability and scalability. Each day includes maintaining and optimizing virtualized infrastructure—primarily on Nutanix AHV—as well as installing, configuring, and tuning Oracle and PostgreSQL databases to uphold high availability and strong performance. The administrator also manages backup and recovery operations, including routine backups, restores, and disaster recovery planning, ensuring that all systems meet organizational continuity requirements.
This is a 6-month contract to hire, and ideally 2-3 days onsite in Bethpage. Insurance and a 401K are offered during the contract period and upon conversion.

Required Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Minimum of 8+ years of experience in system and database administration.
· Strong proficiency with Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, etc.) and Windows operating systems.
· In-depth knowledge of Oracle and PostgreSQL database administration, including clustering and replication.
· Experience managing virtualized environments using platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Nutanix.
· Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions, especially Rubrik.
· Strong understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation.
· Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
· Certifications such as RHCE, MCSE, Oracle Certified Professional, or PostgreSQL certifications.
· Knowledge of cloud platforms and hybrid infrastructure integration.
· Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, or SOX.
