Job Description
A client of Insight Global is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer will support a ground-based advanced technology program focused on laser systems and beam control. Responsibilities include managing customer requirements within a database and contributing to high-level MBSE models. The role will partner closely with functional engineering leads to allocate and decompose requirements, develop lower-level system requirements, and ensure alignment across mechanical, electrical, optical, and software teams.
They will support major program milestones such as SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR, while also helping define and execute Verification & Validation plans. This includes supporting system-level testing, data collection, and analysis to ensure requirements are met.
If brought in at the lead level, this individual will provide direction to other systems engineers, drive systems engineering best practices across the program, and act as a key interface between engineering teams and program leadership.

Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of Systems Engineering experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Physics
Strong experience with requirements development/management and MBSE
Hands-on experience with tools like Cameo, Innoslate, or similar
Background in Verification & Validation (V&V) planning and execution
Experience supporting system lifecycle reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR)
Ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical, electrical, optical, and software teams
Experience developing requirements, test plans, and supporting test execution/data analysis
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD clearance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Prior experience with laser systems or beam control technologies
Knowledge of high-powered lasers and safety protocols
Experience supporting prototype or low-rate production systems
Background supporting large ACAT-1 (or equivalent) defense programs
Previous Systems Engineering Lead experience managing or mentoring engineers
Active Secret clearance
