Job Description

Insight Global's client, a global full-service container and cargo handling facility, is looking for a recent graduate to join their team as a Civil Engineer. In this role, you will gain hands on experience with all aspects of diverse Civil Engineering redevelopment and expansion projects within two operating Port of New York and New Jersey Marine Container Terminals located in the Cities of Bayonne, NJ and Staten Island, NY.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties and responsibilities will be assigned as project needs evolve and shall include but not be limited to the following items:

1. Facilitates writing scope of work descriptions, solicits bid pricing, and evaluates bid proposals.

2. Coordinates multiple aspects of design and construction work to ensure timely delivery of quality work within agreed upon cost.

3. Monitors progress of design and construction work and reports any field conflicts to Manager, solicits input from and communicates resolutions to all parties.

4. Ensures project requirements outlined in engineering drawings and specifications are followed.

5. Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; documents field condition with photos and sketches; makes recommendations to Manager for necessary modifications.

6. Collaborates with Manager, operations, engineers, and contractors to discuss and resolve problems, including work procedures, complaints, and design or construction issues.

7. Develops and maintains good working relationships with a variety of people, including terminal operations, engineers, suppliers, and contractors.

8. Ensures safety of self and mindful that safety standards and guidelines are followed by all persons working on terminal construction projects.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Employee must develop rapport with all levels of employees and external persons.

2. Employee must use well-developed oral and written communication/interpersonal skills for work with internal and external persons.

3. Employee must be Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Basic AutoCAD software experience a plus.

4. Employee must pay meticulous attention to detail to support making well-informed decisions.

5. Employee must have the ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems.

6. Employee must be able to communicate effectively in English.

7. Employee must have ability to quickly identify problems and efficiently solve them.

Required Skills & Experience
