Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Junior (L1) Software Engineer to join our largest federal client's development team. This role is ideal for an early‑career engineer with strong programming fundamentals, a solid Linux background, and exposure to C++ and Java. The engineer will support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of software systems in a collaborative environment.
-Develop, test, and maintain software applications using C++ and Java
-Work in Linux-based environments, including troubleshooting, scripting, and system interaction
-Support existing applications by debugging, enhancing features, and resolving defects
-Collaborate with senior engineers to implement design specifications and best practices
-Participate in code reviews to ensure quality, performance, and maintainability
-Document technical designs, configurations, and -operational procedures
-Learn and apply new tools, frameworks, and technologies as required

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Proficiency in C++ and Java
Strong Linux background, including command-line usage and system fundamentals
Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow established processes
Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Working knowledge of Asterisk (telephony/VoIP systems)
Exposure to networking concepts and real‑time systems
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
