Job Description
One of our clients, a mission-driven FQHC in Camden, NJ is looking to hire a Controller. This person will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting, accounting systems, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP, HRSA, and federal/state regulations. This role supports audits, budgeting, and strategic planning, and works closely with the CFO to ensure long-term financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting operations and month-end close
• Prepare financial statements and board reports
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, HRSA, and Uniform Guidance
• Lead external audits, tax filings, UDS, and cost reports
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Oversee reconciliations, grant tracking, and fixed assets
• Assist HR with payroll reconciliation and benefit planning
• Optimize financial systems and software tools
• Collaborate across departments to ensure financial integration

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA or MBA preferred)
• 5–7 years progressive accounting experience; 3+ years in a controller role
• Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or FQHC settings
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, Uniform Guidance, and nonprofit accounting
• Proficiency in MIP Fund Accounting and Excel (pivot tables, v-lookup)
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills
