Job Description

· Assist the teacher in planning and implementing educational activities in the classroom and interact with children in a developmentally appropriate manner. Assist the Teacher in the development and implementation of individualized plans for children.
· Assist the Teacher in observing, screening, assessing, and documenting children's growth and development. Document observations and individual activities in blue books.
· Ensures the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor
· Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by the teacher.
· Assume Teacher responsibilities in the absence of the Teacher.
· Prepare and maintain appropriate records or reports. This may include maintaining daily attendance record of children and managing records of classroom in-kind. Submit accurate records of in-kind on a monthly basis.
· Participate in weekly Center staff meetings and all other meetings as requested. Attend training and workshops.
· Encourage and coordinate parent and volunteer involvement. Accompany Teacher in making educational Home Visits and Parent/Teacher conferences as requested by Teacher. Coordinate classroom volunteer program.
Any other Head Start task as delegated by Teacher or management

Required Skills & Experience

· Must have a Child Development Associate (CDA) or be currently enrolled in CDA program or be enrolled in early childhood coursework leading to an associate or bachelor degree.
· Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D
· Must have a car available on a daily basis.
Must be able to read and write sufficiently to maintain proper records.
