Job Description

The NERC Compliance Engineer ensures the reliability and safety of the Bulk Power System by supporting full compliance with all applicable NERC standards. This role serves as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for standards impacting Generator Owners (GO), Generator Operators (GOP), and Transmission Owners (TO).
You’ll lead compliance documentation, testing, audits, engineering support, and continuous monitoring of new and emerging NERC requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
7+ years engineering experience in generation, transmission, or protection
Strong knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards for GO/GOP/TO
Experience with ETAP or similar power modeling tools
Working knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E
Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
Excellent written & verbal communication skills
Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
Ability to travel up to 20%

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license
Experience with power system analysis tools: PSLF, PSS/E, PSCAD
Experience supporting NERC audits or regulatory reviews
Root cause analysis experience for electrical equipment failures
Exposure to capital project scope, budget, and design development
