Job Description

Insight Global is seeking an Environmental Technician for a top mining client. This candidate will support environmental compliance efforts at an active mine site by conducting field sampling, inspections, and environmental monitoring. The role focuses heavily on ensuring adherence to regulatory standards while assisting with sustainability initiatives and environmental protection efforts. This is a highly hands-on position requiring comfort working in rugged outdoor environments, strong attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with engineering and environmental leadership to maintain safe and compliant mining operations.

Day-to-Day:
4 days a week, 10 hrs. a day split
3:45 AM – 5:00 PM daily
Conduct environmental sampling (soil, water, waste, etc.)
Perform inspections to ensure compliance with environmental regulations
Operate environmental and field equipment
Maintain accurate records, reports, and compliance documentation
Support hazardous waste management and spill investigations
Monitor and help protect wildlife (including desert tortoise)
Assist with environmental compliance data tracking and reporting
Promote environmental awareness across the site
Support sustainability initiatives (reclamation, water conservation, biodiversity)
Oversee maintenance/repairs related to environmental systems

Required Skills & Experience

Experience in environmental, mining, or related field
Ability to perform outdoor environmental fieldwork in rugged/desert conditions
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Ability to conduct environmental sampling (soil, water, waste, etc.)
Experience with inspections and compliance monitoring
Strong documentation and reporting skills
High school diploma or GED

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

MSHA Certification
HAZWOPER certification
DOT certification for waste handling/disposal
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field
Equipment operation experience (skid-steer, forklift, water truck)
Previous mining industry experience
